I figured it was time to create a new toplist with update traffic rankings for July 2009. I've used the same methodology as for the May 2009 - that is using Alexa as a proxy (albeit imperfect) for site popularity.
Here is the list of the most popular site running on Google App Engine as of July 8, 2009:

- 2. www.jaiku.com (Alexa rank: 18793)
- 3. www.dayinthecloud.com (Alexa rank: 18970)- NEW!
- 4. www.twazzup.com (Alexa rank: 23046)
- 5. www.twibes.com (Alexa rank: 25069)
- 6. www.wordle.net (Alexa rank: 26684)
- 7. www.acid-play.com (Alexa rank: 29315)
- 8. www.twollo.com (Alexa rank: 30046)
- 9. www.downforeveryoneorjustme.com (Alexa rank: 31107)
- 10. www.allforgood.org (Alexa rank: 36969)- NEW!
- robtex.com had the number one spot in the last toplist but seems to have moved to Amazon EC2 (!)
- chromeexperiments.com and desktop-reporting.com are still running on Google App Engine but their Alexa rankings did not allow for a top 10 placement on the new list

mytextfile.com is a very popular app on the appengine site, but probably not in the top ten.

Is it all python, or also java implementations already?
Really nice posting. I am trying for increasing my blog alexa rank.
Playster.org is on App Engine, but it's too new to be in the top ten...
If you want a succesfull site, please make sure it works correctly without www too.

Appengine does not allow naked domain mapping. There is no way out without www
